- Once the TCP/IP packets get out of the computer, they're free to roam. They're
- just as happy ending up in a Unix box or VAX as a PC. NDIS is just a layer
- of software between the protocol (TCP/IP, NetBEUI, IPX...) and the network
- card (ethernet, token ring...)

- Winsock is *included* with NT. You don't need to add anything; just load
- the TCP/IP drivers. The only WinSock compliant software that won't work
- is WS_PING and WSGOPHER. On the other hand, if you want to use
- Peter Tattam's WinSock for its SLIP functionality, you may be in trouble.
- I think you're only hope there is to wait for Daytona (aka NT 3.5). It is
- supposed to come with PPP support.

- Subject: IPX, VLM (or NETX), WFWG & NFS
-
- I have been trying to configure Windows For workgroups to coexist with
- several protocols. So far I have been able to set it up for Trumpet,
- Netbeui, and IPX. However! I have been trying to get Mr Lochiano's
- (sp?) nfs program (socknfs) that I got from harvard's ftp site. I can
- get it to work if I use the Lan Manger's setup (the config.sys/autoexec
- .bat) that the LanManagers setup program created.
-
- I have configured my WFWG to use Real Mode NDIS running over ODI. It
- almost works except that I get a 5373 (?) binding error upon net start.
- I am using the latest ver of ODINSUP from Novell.
-
- Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
-
- BTW, all my bindings statment in protocol.ini and system.ini point to my
- ODI MLID (E21ODI.com).
-
- Has anyone gotten this to work?
-

- Subject: EUDORA filters to direct mail into mailboxes?
-
- I'm using EUDORA for WINDOWS 1.4 (shareware version). I see that

- If so, how do I do that (or do I need to get the commercial version to

- I have been fiddling around lately with Beame and Whiteside's TCP/IP
- suite. It's quite comprehensive, supports winsock.dll and has wide
- variety of "Deamons" that run under windows. The only problem is that
- while B&W has a fully functioning winsock.dll, their applications are
- written to their own dll and hence will not operate with any "off-the-
- shelf" winsock.dll. I have, hjowever, tested the usual assortment of
- winsock apps such as mosaic, and the like and they all work fine with
- the winsock dll supplied by B&W.

- Just delete "NEWS.GRP". The reader will create a new file when you reconnect,
- and it will contain the missing newsgroups. Good luck!

- The emulation is incorrect. The trumpet telnet does not correctly
